What we have built in
Every page carries a skip link to the main content, a visible keyboard focus ring, headings in a correct order, labelled form fields and text that meets contrast requirements against its background. The site works with the keyboard alone, and the plant directory can be searched, filtered and read without a mouse.
The bar at the top of every page offers three controls that are remembered in your browser: a dark appearance for low light and light sensitivity, three text sizes, and a language switch between English and Hindi. No control depends on a plugin or an account.
Images, motion and sound
Photographs carry alternative text. Nothing on the site autoplays sound, flashes, or moves except the story carousel, which stops as soon as it is touched or clicked. There is no infinite scroll and no content that requires hovering to read.
Where we know we fall short
Some downloadable PDFs are not yet fully tagged for screen readers, and Hindi translation is complete for the site interface but still in progress for individual plant entries. Both are being worked on.
